Here's What to Expect

How Prenatal Visits Work

  • Meet during your third trimester to start planning ahead
  • Bring your partner or support system along — you don't have to do this alone
  • Talk through your history, goals, and any concerns
  • Learn what to expect in the first few days with baby
  • Practice hands-on skills like positioning and latch
  • Leave with a personalized plan and direct access to support after birth

Visits typically last around 60 minutes.

  • Protect your milk supply from the start

FAQs

  1. What does prenatal support include?

Prenatal visits are about getting you ready before your baby arrives — specific to your body and your goals, not just general theory. We'll talk through what to expect with feeding, look at any factors that could affect breastfeeding (like flat or inverted nipples, or a history of breast surgery), and build a realistic plan so the first days home feel less overwhelming. It's also your first step into continuous care — by the time your baby is here, I already know your history, and your feeding plan is ready to evolve with you.

  2. Who is prenatal support for, and when should I reach out?

Prenatal lactation support is for anyone preparing for feeding before their baby arrives — whether you want a plan in place before day one, or you already know feeding might come with extra challenges. Common reasons families reach out prenatally include a history of flat or inverted nipples, previous breast surgery, a difficult feeding experience with an earlier baby, expecting twins or multiples, or simply wanting confidence going in instead of learning everything for the first time after birth. It's especially valuable for first-time parents who want to walk in prepared, and for anyone who's had a hard time before and wants this round to go differently. You don't need a referral, a "big enough" concern, or a diagnosed issue to reach out — planning ahead is exactly what this visit is for.

  3. How soon after birth can I see you?

If we've connected prenatally through a Foundations or Fourth Trimester package, priority booking means I can typically see you within 3–4 days of birth — right around when you're settling in at home, which is exactly when feeding questions tend to surface. If we haven't met yet, reach out as soon as you're ready and I'll get you scheduled as quickly as I can.

  4. What makes you different?

I run my practice differently on purpose. Most lactation care is built around single visits — I built mine around relationships, with a planned course of follow-up in every package. Every family gets continuity, not goodbye.

  5. What if I'm outside your typical service area?

Telehealth is built for exactly this — a full video visit with real-time coaching, the same relationship-first approach as an in-home visit, just adapted to a screen. If you're further away or outside my standard service radius, it's a great way to get started, and it still folds into your ongoing care rather than being a one-time fix. Some things do need an in-person visit, like a hands-on weight check or oral tie assessment — if that's the case, I'll help you figure out the right next step.

  6. How can I contact you?

Reach out anytime via my contact page or send a text. I aim to respond within one business day.
